Concept

When uploading Music on Hold via the portal it will automatically convert files to the proper format. However if you need to change the system default MoH, conference bridge MoH, or adjust music volume Audacity is a great free tool.

Rules

  • All the Voice Prompts are in .wav file format.
  • The sampling rate of all files used within the system is 8000Hz mono and encoded in 8-bit PCM u-Law.<

Procedure

Adjusting Volume

  1. Once you have your track opened in Audacity, use the +/- slider to the left of the track to adjust the volume level.

General File Conversion

  1. In many cases, audio files will be in stereo.
  2. If your audio file is stereo, click the pull-down menu in the upper left of the track (next to the "x" button) and select Split Stereo to Mono
  3. Then click the "x" button on one of the two tracks so we have one mono track.
  4. Change the project rate to 8Hz
  5. Then go to File > Export Audio. Select Format as "Other uncompressed files" and click Options...
  6. Select Header:WAV (Microsoft) and Encoding: U-Law. Click OK, then Save.
